Four gracefully curved, tapered legs give the Antique Railroad "Secretary Desk" a light, refined look. It is a sleek writing desk with one full drawer, a shaped back rail and charming brass hardware. The secretary desk is a classic form dating back to the 18th century, when every home of standing kept one for letters and record keeping, and desks of this kind are rarely made by hand today.
It is hand carved from Red Jarrah in a warm, deep brown, and at 32" tall and 42" wide it sits comfortably in smaller rooms. The wood is dense and heavy, giving the solid, luxurious feel of a piece built from nothing but solid wood.
It works as a writing desk in a study or bedroom, as a vanity, or as a console table in an entryway.
